Pre-Employment Background Checks


The Kansas Board of Regents requires that each state university shall perform a criminal background check on persons hired for certain state university positions. All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of the background check as outlined in the Pre-Employment Screening Policy. After the candidate has accepted the offer and completed the Disclosure Regarding Background Investigation and the Acknowledgment and Authorization for the background check, the process is completed through the University’s third party vendor. The pre-employment screening includes a criminal background check, sex offender registry check, and may also include a credit history report if necessary for the position. Before making an adverse decision, the University will provide the prospective employee with a copy of the consumer/background report and a description in writing of the individual’s rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

 

Background Check Forms

The three-page document must be provided to the prospective employee, signed by the prospective employee, and returned to Pittsburg State University PRIOR to conducting a background check.

Please submit the Disclosure Regarding Background Investigation and the Acknowledgment and Authorization to the appropriate office below for processing. You may direct any questions regarding background checks to these offices as well.
